Bedtime stories in your own voice

Three Thủ thỉ screens: tonight's story picker, choosing characters for a new story, and the night-mode player.

A family album you can listen to

When my wife and I found out we were expecting, I wanted to tell our son a story every day, even before he was born. Not only fairy tales, but our own family stories, told in our own voices and kept for years to come. Thủ thỉ helps parents create stories, tell them to their child and keep those memories together.

What this demonstrates

  • Designed and built solo

My first complete app: design, iOS, Android and web from one codebase, built with Claude Code.

  • A design system for the dark

Eight themes, four ages in light and dark. Night mode turns on at 7pm, with contrast checked against WCAG AA in every theme.

  • AI with care for families

Stories include the child's name, but the name never reaches the AI. A cloned voice needs the owner to read a consent line aloud.

Made for the end of a long day

Parents open Thủ thỉ in bed, in a dark room, often tired and holding the phone in one hand. Every design decision starts there: large touch targets, soft colours that never glare, text that stays readable at night, and no badges or pushy notifications to keep them hooked.

When something goes wrong, the first line always says what is safe: "Nothing is lost. Your recording is saved up to 01:24." Then it explains the cause in plain words and offers one clear next step.

A story in seconds, in your own voice

Pick a theme, characters and length, and Thủ thỉ writes a story for your child's age, with their name in it, plus a cover drawn for that story. Then tell it yourself: record paragraph by paragraph while the current line is highlighted, or share it as a duet, with one parent narrating and the other voicing the characters.

Busy night? Play your recording again, or let an AI voice made from your own voice read it. The player is always dark, with a sleep timer and gentle rain in the background.

The whole family, one library

Mum, Dad and grandparents join the same family and share one library of stories and recordings on every device. Each person sees their own greeting and recordings, and the app never compares who tells more.

AI features run on Stars shared by the family. The price is shown before anything runs, and if the AI fails, the Stars come back exactly once.

Learning to ship, with AI as a teacher

I'm a designer and had never built a complete app before. In about a month and some 500 commits with Claude Code, Thủ thỉ went from a design system to the App Store: a shared codebase for iOS, Android and web, a server for stories and voices, in-app purchases, and a dashboard that tracks how many stories are listened to the end and who comes back.

The story prompt alone went through five versions, each tested against real cases for every age. "AI has taught me a lot along the way, not just helped me write code." Thủ thỉ launched on the App Store on 13 October 2026, and the Android version is on its way.

Available on the App Store in Vietnam. The Android version is coming soon. Stories are written in Vietnamese or English, following the app language.
